Well, we all know i want the biggest, baddest motors I can afford in my RCs. Its never fast enough.
So in the spirit of that concept I've taken advantage of Castles 5 Day Black sale. Picked up a Mamba Max Monster 2200kv setup for $240 shipped.....
....And installed it into my 10th scale OFNA Hyper 10TT.
Oh Dear.
Here's a comparison shot between the old Castle 1410 motor and the Castle 1515 motor I installed.
So far I've only run it on 3S lipo, which means with the 2200kv rating the maximum motor RPM was 24420rpm. Its setup right now with the largest pinion I have, a 18t. 18/42 is the gearing and honestly the system didn't even notice it was running, the motor was never more than a degree above room temp couldn't feel any heat off the setup.
Power was quick, with insane acceleration. Wanna clear the triple? Pin it for a second and you'll end up clearing the triple and landing in the next lane. Probably tops out in the 30-35mph range based on the motor's operationgal RPM on 3S lipo. Going to 4, 5, or 6S lipo would rapidly change that. I already have a 22t pinion on the way for some high speed antics.
In reality on 6S lipo with tall enough gearing this thing could probably approach 100mph, don't know if I could ever keep it on the ground for that though.
