...to Nitro Methane, especially in my 30% byrons preference. And to say hello to all of you again as I get out of my RC Funk and back into the business of breaking a whole bunch of $H** while going as fast as possible. I'm coming back to RC in a big way, but am also clearing the way of old and unused cars so look for some For Sale posts. Some of you may remember my Jammin X1 CRT Pro truggy with the Novarossi 528XR, well it still melts tires and makes pizza cutters. But I just don't have the time to maintain it anymore so I'm going brushless and selling off my Nitro stuff. Anyone wants a HotMod Novarossi 528XR for $100 let me know, I'll have it out the door and on its way to you as soon as paypal comes through. Why so cheap? It has plenty of life left, but apparently novarossi no longer sells piston/sleeves for it. So once the motor wears out that'll be it. So this is what I started with: This is what I ended up with after stripping the car: To quote a commercial. $315 - Castle Creations Mamba Max Monster V3 2200kv combo $100 - (2) 3s1p 5000mah 40C LiPos wired in series for 25volts $75 - some conversion parts from RC-Monster.com 5,000 watts of brushless power? Priceless Parts are still in the mail, the christmas season is slowing shipments down so it won't be ready for this year, but I'm aiming to show up to Somebigshow in the Omaha area with you guys next year.

Hey Billy I understand going a different route with RC's. I will still drive my savage's but I am looking into Large scale trucks and Brushless as well.
Good to see you still alive my friend. Tom

Its just been a funk with RC and spending money on the big boy TransAm. I've probably dropped about $5000 into the TransAm in the last 3 years. I stripped it nose to tail of panels, doors, paint, engine, transmission, interior..... Loved every minute of it though. I'm sad now with the snow, I stare at it and I can't drive it anymore. But the reason I'm getting back into RC is funnily enough my nephew turned 4 yesterday and he's a pretty coordinated kid. So I decided to buy him a RC car for his 4th birthday, but I wanted something that could take some punishment and he could grow with. I ended up buying him a Traxxas Revo 1/16th brushed setup. I didn't want him to have the VXL setup yet. In any case I took it out of the box to charge up the batteries for him and make sure it was all workin and those 5 minutes with that little mini truck hooked me again. it was so easy. battery charged, play with toy. Done? turn off and put toy away. So easy. Took a few days to read up on brushless systems and batteries. I knew from the moment I decided that the Castle Mamba Max Monster with the 2200kv motor was the only way I'd go, and that it would have to be a 6S lipo setup to satisfy my need for speed. Just needed to research the different batteries and source a few conversion parts.

Nice sounds like you will have fun with him. Wish we all could get back together and have a weekend of fun and Playing again. But seems Timmy is off in his own little world, and chicago is to far to drive my Blazer too. Would cost me over 500 in gas LOL. But summer is coming and maybe we can figure out some way of getting together and having fun again.
We all miss you, Matt Called me today happy to see you have posted and so on...

I will likely pick an event to head out to for the next year. Probably a weekender event so I'll keep watch. Looking for a big bore shock kit for the Jammin now. The smaller 13mm shocks were fine when the truck was about 9lbs, but the ESC, Motor, and Batteries together come in at 3lbs. I also ordered a set of 2S1P lipos that were 6400mah so I can run for a bit longer at less insane speeds. I wanted a set of A123 batteries, but man those things were expensive! I picked up both the 3S packs, and both the 2S packs for LESS than the cost of a single 6S A123 pack in the 5000mah range, thing is almost $230. But the nice thing about LiFe is that the batteries can be punctured/crushed...etc and they have zero risk of fire or flare up. I'll just have to be careful with the Truggy until then, no attempts at achieving orbit with the LiPos. Found a guy with a similar setup, he clocked in at 78mph with a truggy nearly the same weight. __________________ PS, the Lawn Dart is still kicking teeth in, took it for a drive yesterday and the 30VG fired up instantly. Kids magically appeared at the nitro noise. I will miss that noise.

The first of the goodies came today, and I got the truck all clensified! The Z-brace has a stripped screw so I can't remove it, however I may not need to if I can work the battery trays around it. I'd like to keep the chassis as stiff as possible. I'm considering using a graphite fiber plate to make a "double decker" chassis . This would provide the stiffness I want without any real extra weight, and it would also allow me some unique battery mounting options along with a nice mount for the electronics. Once all of the parts arrive I'll mock it up with poster board, build a final in thin plexy and then see if I can make it work with graphite. Also looking into making it a somewhat sealed system for some water resistance. There isn't much I can do with the ESC because it will need all of the cooling it can get.

Brushless is really becomming the way to go. There are alot of advantages. I wouldnt really worry about launching it into orbit tho. So long as you protect the batteries it will be fine. And come on, it is you we are talking about Billy, we all know you will do it anyways lol.
Good to see you back at it tho. I took a break as well, and just recently blew the dust off my Savage. Now that I have a "normal" job again, I am getting back into it more and more.
Oh and good call on not getting the VXL for him. On a 2 cell my MERV is almost out of control lol.

Well, looks like there's been a delay in my CNC bulkhead that becomes the motor mount and battery trays. Grrr.. But Everything else is here. Just for giggles I piled all of the equipment on the car and then tried to pick it up. Dear lord, I think its gonna weigh as much as a savage! I think the 11lb estimate is more a minimum guideline! So glad I ordered the 16mm big bore shock kit along with the heavy spring set. Cause the 13mm shocks with the medium springs may not be very happy with the truck now! But look, hey it kind of looks converted!

Its beginning to look alot like an RC car again. New big bore shocks are installed. I think I may need to order up with the next hardest spring rate. On a full compression loaded with all of the electric drivetrain the chassis doesn't quiet want to come bones level again. I played with the shock position settings and managed to stiffen it up a bit so that it comes bone level. But as the shock fluid warms up it will get thinner and it may allow the car to sag a bit. Picking up the buggy vs truggy now is a monstrous difference in weight. I really need to get it weighed once the conversion is complete. Still waiting for the battery trays and RCM motor mount. I will need to drill and countersink a few new holes in the chassis, but will wait till I have all of the parts. The drilling is mostly for the battery trays.
