Howdy, Well this is my first time building a truck. I hate starting the post so soon as I don't have a lot of the parts yet. But I figured I would go ahead and post the drawings and demensions I do have. It's going to run custom aluminum frame and cage, TLT axels, pede trans, Jeep body (of course), 2.2 Dirt Hawgs on Pede rims (starting out cause I have them already), 2.2 Moabs (when I get them), Beadlocks of some kind (not sure what yet), Brushless (I hope!), and Full custom light set. Thats all I can think of at the moment. The demensions on the frame as of now is 20" long, and 3" wide, it has a center drop of 1.5" from the top of the frame to the top of the drop, 2" from top of frame to the bottom. Well now on to the 2 pics I have. The first is of my chassis drawing and the second is the Jeep it's being built after. Let me know what you guys think and if it looks like it will work as I have it layed out. Thanks for any help you can give me.

That is awesome! With having your own metal shop/mill that makes it really easy for you to turn out what you need from the raw materials. Awesome work!

I got 5 more of the perches done tonight. I started working on them tonight and the lathe broke a belt, so I had to fly to the auto parts store for a big o-ring to fix it. So I aleast got 7 of them done so far. Got one more to do then I can get the frame back together. Well here a couple pics. The second is of the mound of aluminum from cutting the perches. Thanks for looking.

Howdy, Well I got the shock perches done finally. Now I got to figure out how I'm going to mount them. I also got the rear suspension put back on but am having problems with it. It's really starting to tick me off. When I hook up my top links I lose all articulation. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. SO if any of you guys could help me out it would be GREAT. Thanks in advance and Thanks for looking. Later

Tim,
I'm no expert on this stuff, by any means, but I think what is going on is that the top links are center mounted instead of outside mounted. If you center mount them, the rollcenter or roll point that you should get from the articulation is gone - it will only move between the two mount points of the top links. See if you can take the top links further outside. Either that or you will need to change those top links into shocks so that they can easily compress and take some give to roll more for the articulation. Does that make sense?

Tim,
I've been awake a bit longer and going back to the pics thought of something. What if your top links where just a unilink? I think that if all you had was a single link on the top to the center of the chassis - may have to make a modified version of the ladder post so that you can mount a link in the center - that it would allow a ton of articulation. You are probably gonna have to play with it a bit.
Good luck! PD2

Simply awesome. You did a sweet job with it and it looks very realistic. Now, how about an action shot, or a video.

Congrats on an AWESOME custom job! That thing is very much to scale and looks great! Not sure how much more you are gonna do to it, but you are practically there!

Thanks for the complements guys. It is pretty much done. I think I might try and redo the rear suspension. I'm also going to make some rock sliders and build a winch for it. I have most of the parts for the winch except a few gears. Thanks again guys. Later
