Well...after a long, long time of wanting to start a Crawler project, I'm finally doing it. Aquired some parts through trade, and bought a lot of parts this past week. (Never really thought it would be this easy to spend money on a Crawler! LOL) After a couple name changes....I have settled on "Nightcrawler". Haven't gotten all my parts yet...the main thing is the Chassis, it won't be here from RC Guy til Friday. But anyway....here's a list of things, that will be making up this beast. Clod Axles (w/ Bearings, Rear Locked) Robinson Racing 11T Pinions RC Guy Gecko II Chassis RC Guy Steering Kit Kyosho Magnetic Mayhem Motors InetRC Wheel Wideners Thunder Tech Racing T/E Maxx Wheel Adapters 2 sets of wheels/tires Losi Beadlock Wheels (w/ Blue Rings) Stock Clod Tires Pro-Line Outback Wheels Losi Claw MT Tires Novak Super Rooster ESC HotBodies Threaded T-Maxx Shocks (Blue) Hitec 645MG Servos Kimbrough #124 Servo Savers Traxxas TQ3 Radio Pro-Line Dodge Power Wagon Body I already have over half the stuff....just waiting on the Body, Chassis, Steering Kit, Wheel Wideners, Wheel Adapters, and Losi Tires. Once I get pretty much everything, so I can actually start building her up...I'll take pics of the process! Can't wait!

you will be better off locking the front diff also for a crawler. you get better forward traction. just my $.02 I agree....if I was going to be using this STRICTLY to Crawl (although it's mainly what I'm building for), but I'm also going to want it to be able to be a decent basher if need be. So...keeping the front unlocked would provide more stability in a straight line.

SORRY i didnt mean to offend you i just thought it was gonna be a straight up crawler, that was just my opinion, once again my apologies No offense taken...I mean, for all intents and purposes...it is a Crawler...but I'd like to have the option to bash a bit with it if I want. Like you even said you did with yours. (It's not gonna be a Competition Crawler). So it IS a Crawler....but I just would rather not have to call it a "Crawler, and sometimes Basher" when I talk about it. And I said I agreed with you...but that I wanted to keep the front unlocked for the reason of bashing. (Which you said you even did with yours) :-p

Down Mike down........... lol. Never thought the crawler would cause this much stress . First Jim let me shed a little light on our situation. Mike and myself are under the gun to get these two trucks done before the 23rd. (See my Violator Project) There is going to be a show that we are doing this weekend , and the outdoor channel will be there filming. So there is much pressure . Second issue is we are in Florida , and there is just flat out no real rock formations here . Now there are a few places , so dont take it that i mean none what-so-ever. But all out extreme crawlers where we are at are just not needed , however I do like the idea of a trail rig that is more than capable. Since we do have plenty of beach areas and swampy land , as well as hill formations with washouts. But still one locked diff is enough .

So I got the Chassis today....got it all ready to mount up. Got the shocks ready. Changed to a softer spring, also they're chrome. Used a 1 hole piston, and 35 WT oil. Started on the front Axle. Got the holes for the C Hub brace drilled, and mounted the brace. Mounted the Upper Link mount. And installed the Servo bracket. Got the Shocks all mounted. Front Axle fully mounted. Servo mounted. And Steering Kit installed. Here you can see the Steering Kit up close. And then here's a pic of the Wheels, and Tired mounted up. Dicided to go with the Clod tires, on these wheels. Will use the Losi tires, on a set of Proline Outback wheels I have coming (will post pics later). I've got the rear Axle torn apart right now...because I'm going to lock it. Doing that tomorrow....before I put it back together, and mount it to the chassis. It's coming along really well!

Will get those mounted up, and take pics later. Gotta finish the rear diff now.

Well, got the rear Axle all back together. Cleaned it up, relubed it, and locked it up. Got everything attached...and mounted it to the chassis. Rear steering kit installed. It's really starting to look like a truck now!

nice rig dude. where did you get the cld beadlocks from? Thanks! They're Losi Beadlock "look" Wheels. Maxx size wheels....just had to really stretch the Clod Tires on there. LOL They're not real beadlocks...just look like them. The ring they come with is Blue, but you can also get Red. Problem with them is...they have a really positive offset....so to get them to work good (without hitting the links), I needed to get the Inet Wideners, ontop of the TTR Adapters.

wow whats the overall width with 2 sets of wideners? Not sure yet....haven't gotten the TTR Adapters yet (should be here tomorrow). But I'm thinking it's gonna be pretty wide! LOL That's why I also have the spare set.....Proline Outback Wheels, with Losi Claw MT tires...just in case I wanna switch up.

Got the body today....Dodge Power Wagon! First, trimmed the body...used the Dremel to smooth/round out the edges. Then masked off the areas I needed too. Body will be Metallic Black, fenders will be Candy Blue, running boards, and tool box will be Indy Silver.

Alright...finished! This is how it was layed down... Light Coat - Black Light Coat - Black Heavy Coat - Black (remove masking from fenders)Light Coat - Candy Blue Medium Coat - Candy Blue Heavy Coat - Candy Blue (remove masking from running boards, and tool box)Heavy Coat - Silver Heavy Coat - Black Once the Silver was layed, it REALLY brought out the Candy Blue, and made the Metallic Flakes in the Black stand out. Backing it in Black, then really enhanced the Silver. I think it turned out INCREDIBLE!!! I still have to do the decals...and I'm also going to lay a thin Red pinstripe down the side.
