Progressive Dual-Spring Shocks!!!!
Okay...so I was wishing the ride height was just a bit higher on the 18T, and I notice the Mini T shocks were a bit longer than the 18T's. (I know, I know...a Losi part on an AE truck...GASP....I'll get over it. ) So I picked up a set of the Losi Oil-Filled Shocks.
The Springs they come with, are a bit too soft for my liking...so what I did, was cut the Pink springs in half, and used them for the top set. And then used the stock Blue springs as the bottom set. This allows the shocks to progress from being soft at first, but then becomming stiff when you need them. It works really well actually. You have to use the 18T's ball end, and spring retainer on the new shocks to get it to work.
I had to use the medium spacer from the AE set between the two springs. The spacers that come with the Losi set, seem to be a bit thinner, so the 18T's are a bit too big, and tend to sleide over them.
On the Rear I used the thickest spacer, and next to thickest from the Losi set at the top. On the Front, I ended up putting just the thickest spacer from the Lost set. This gave me the desired height, and rebound I was wanting.
I moved both Front, and Rear shocks to the top positions on the Shock Towers. And I moved the bottom of the Front Shocks out to the farthest hole.
Here's a pic of the size difference in the new Progressive Shocks...and the Stock ones. Front (left) & Rear (right).
Here you can see the difference in ride height, from Before...to After.
And here's the finished product. In the second pic, you can see how the first (Pink) spring is compressing first, and more than the second (Blue) spring.
