Hi guys, I'm new here. Thanks for the invite Tim.
Here are some of my recently completed restoration projects, and some other custom and conversion work in progress.
The 2 USA-1 trucks are both Nitro GP, the white one, and the black one were recently restored... chromed chassis, shock towers, exhaust, engine head, rechromed wheels, and other parts, everything else restored to stock... the black one updated with a larger powerplant Kyosho .26... just to keep everything ALL KYOSHO.
The 2 Clods are EP, the Metallic Red one, and the Italian Red one are quite different from each other. The Italian Red one is newly restored, and all original (thanks to Clod Junkyard for keeping parts in stock), with brand new stickers waiting to be applied, while the Metallic Red one is essentially a Chrome Clod... Chrome plastic chassis and parts all through out, got a custom interior for it (seats, dash, w/ steering wheel) waiting to be installed (still deciding if I'll install it), and it has wheel extenders from ThunderRC for a wider stance.
The orange Clod body is mounted on an all original Titan with extended suspension package for a wider stance and has the new Losi 2 Mach .26 engine... just 'coz it's a good powerplant with a head that matches the color of the chassis and the body paint job.
The yellow USA-1 body is mounted on an all aluminum Titan (parts from Duh Engineering), and has the aluminum extended suspension for a wider stance. Don't know if I'll ever run this truck.
The EK4 S2 is pretty much stock except for the updated larger cooling head for the .70 engine. The rest are just about stock too, except for a few upgrades... the 1st Savage has extended, lowered CG, carbon fiber TVPs from Bandit racing, adjustable camber upper arms, and a .28 Diablo; the LST has a carbon fiber upper plate, beefier, adjustable camber upper arms by RPM, and aluminum diff housings; the Revo has hopped up push rods, and a .23 RB engine; and the Dominator has a 2-speed tranny, and a .26 Ofna engine; the other Savage have the purple aluminum XL extended TVPs, adjustable camber upper arms, integy aluminum shocks, reverse module, and a Hot Bodies .26 engine; the Vintage is a restored Vanning (I think); and the 1/7 Spider is stock with upgraded 4mm thick aluminum TVPs, an unpainted MGT body, and EK4 S2 wheels and tires.
So what's with all the USA-1 and Clod trucks and shells... well it's simple really... I was still in school when these trucks came out, and I really wished I could have them, but I couldn't afford them at that time. So, it's been about a 2-decade wait, and this year I found some used, but decent, restorable examples... some cheap, others reasonably priced, and decided to finally get myself these trucks... so it's kinda' like an accomplishment for me to have these trucks parked in my hobby/home-theatre room. It feels really good just looking at them.
Oh, and I almost forgot... my current project is a 2-speed USA-1 Nitro. I really like the look of the USA-1, the body, the rims, the tires, everything, and while it may be a good, solid, powerful truck... it's also a really slow truck, so I'm giving this old bad boy an upgrade to keep up with the new kids on the block. My 2006 USA-1 has a .25 HPI engine equipped with a convenient rotostart backplate (I figure this is a safer choice for the old diffs and tranny rather than going with anything larger... and plus I got it brand new by just swapping my break-in condition .12 Sirio EVO ABC for it), HPI Savage exhaust pipe, it's got a 2-speed tranny by Ofna (got it cheap off ebay) with dual disk brakes for sure stopping power, a new fuel tank from Ofna (Hyper 7), and other Ofna/Hobao parts flywheel, clutch shoes, clutch springs, etc. Just need to make some new holes on the chassis to mount the steering servo, mount the receiver, and batts, and then time to run-in the new engine. I'm thinkin' of putting a Silverado body.
That's about it... for now. This post is way too long, hope you guys don't mind my sharing too much.
Thanks.
Mike
